In July 2017, the Work Group on the Maryland Open Transportation Investment Decision Act formed (Chapter 30, Acts of 2017).
The Work Group is to evaluate the scoring model for major transportation projects developed by the Department of Transportation as specified by legislation in 2017 (Chapter 30, Acts of 2017). This model allows projects to be ranked in terms of those being most needed having the greatest priority. Moreover, the Work Group will consider how prioritizing major projects with higher scores over those with lower scores will affect the Consolidated Tranportation Program in Fiscal Years 2019, 2020, and 2021. How other states prioritize their transportation projects and whether those processes would work in Maryland also is to be evaluated by the Work Group. In addition, the Work Group will recommend whether State law governing the transportation scoring system should be modified or changed.
Authorization for the Work Group ends June 30, 2020.
