In June 2018, the Task Force on the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority was formed (Chapter 789, Acts of 2018).
The Task Force is to determine how to alter the powers of the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority, an independent agency of State government, to align the mission and purpose of the Canal Place Heritage Area with that of other certified heritage areas. Further, the Task Force will consider whether the Authority should be restructured as a State agency, and the various options for disposing of Authority assets.
Authorization for the Task Force ends August 31, 2019.
